Dogs are constantly exposed to intestinal worms, even before they are born. Some species of worms can transfer to puppies through the placenta or from their mothers milk, while adult dogs are exposed to worm larvae or eggs through the soil in parks and backyards. Puppies under 6 months of age need to be wormed more frequently than adults as they produce large numbers of worm eggs and are particularly susceptible to infestation. Unwormed puppies are at risk of developing gastrointestinal problems like diarrhoea and vomiting, poor growth, anaemia and even death. To avoid this they should be wormed every 2 weeks from 2 to 12 weeks of age. Older puppies and adult dogs require treatment for worms at least every 3 months. To avoid hydatid tapeworms, dogs should not be fed offal from every species and dogs in hydatid areas should be wormed at least every 6 weeks.
Not suitable for use in puppies or dogs under 1.5kg. May be used in puppies (over 1.5kg) from 2 weeks of age. Breeding females should be treated at mating, prior to whelping and then at least every 3 months. Does not control heartworm.
